who made your cheese?

this weekend we took a little roadtrip back out to the north fork of long island. it's my new favorite region; incredibly scenic, proudly sustainable and super accessible! we meant to visit a couple farms and markets, but our time quickly was eaten up (as well as our jackets, fingers and shoes!) by the most precious baby goats we've ever met.

welcome to Catapano Dairy Farm. A small, family operated farm that is currently making over five different varieties of fresh, delicious goat cheese including blue, ricotta and an award winning chevre. After playing with the goats, llamas, ponies and kitties we went inside to sample the goods. This cheese is incredible. The freshest tasting ricotta, made every day (so get there early or you'll miss out!) without even a hint of that tang from goat cheese you're used to.
The family offers tours of the kitchen and milking facility, so you can make sure you're eating from the happiest, healthiest mamas. They are open from 10-5 every day except tuesday. Don't forget to sample they're gorgeous selection of skin care made with the milks!
