where do you bring friends/family when they come into town? i feel like it's necessary to eat things that are less common in their neck of the woods. as a new yorker, i'm okay braving super touristy spots as long as i know it's worth it. you know what is? the doughnut plant. i mean, unless you live in LA, which is, in my opinion, doughnut capital, i feel like if you're visiting and you have taste buds you need to come here. i don't usually eat dairy/sugar (it makes me more than a little sick) but for a bite of someone's (i love being married) i will tag along, and possibly manipulate you into getting the flavor i most want a bite of.
my mom and little sister came into town last weekend and we not only each picked out two flavors, but quickly went back to the counter to get a to-go selection. among the amazing flavors we sampled were pistachio, rosewater, square strawberry jelly filled, salted peanut and everyone's favorite, creme brulee. whoa! how do you get so much crack-y sugary crust and vanilla bean flecked pastry cream into such a teeny tiny bundle of love?
here's a picture of my husband double fisting his favorites and loving life.
