Save me from sugar.

i've fooled you again; this bad boy is refined sugar-less!

I've never had a huge sweet tooth.  I never really liked cakes (especially frosting, belch) or chocolate or any other cliche PMS food.  I'm a salty, all the way.  But sometimes, I'll eat a couple peanut butter cups.  And then a couple more.  And before I know it, the cravings are here and its ten o'clock and i need to eat something sweet that isn't going to give me night terrors or make me feel blood sugar crazy (and make more night terrors hello zombie dreams).

Enter: the raw brownie.  You've seen this recipe everywhere, I'm sure.  Here is another one (that's actually yummy and doesn't taste like hippies).

Raw Brownies w/Chocolate "Frosting"

1 cup walnuts (or pecans or cashews!)
1 cup pitted medjool dates
1/3 Cup dutch process valhrona cocoa powder (or something less fancy if you want)

1 avocado
3 tablespoons coconut "butter" (you can make this yourself by pulsing coconut shreds in the FP)
1/2 cup agave nectar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt

1. In food processor, combined first three ingredients until it begins to ball up and become small grounds.  Remove and pat into 8x8 pan.

2. Place all remaining ingredients into processor and blend.  Thin with water, if needed (i used a tiny bit for a more slick icing).

3. Set in freezer for an hour to eat immediately, or fridge over night.  Feel free to experiment with more coconut in the brownie recipe, or different nuts/nut butters maybe even dried cherries.  Yum.
