Family Vacation

Another getaway, got away.  Nine days ago we packed up the car with our blankets and snacks and roadtrip mixes and set sail for our favorite little vacation spot on the shore.  This year, I got to share one of my favorite places with one of my favorite new people, my niece.  We swam in the pool and dipped tiny toes in the ocean and strolled down streets lined with big, bright victorian doll houses.

August is always so bittersweet with the end of summer and the rolling in of fall which is why i always like to have one, big final trip to celebrate everything good in the season.  The boardwalk calls its obnoxious, deep fried, neon howl out to us and we reluctantly throw our dollars at it for the promise of something stuffed or sweet.  Some nights are roller coasters and cotton candy and some are just mosquito slapping on the porch playing games and planning futures.  Til next time, exit zero.
